چکیده

This is a proposal to modify vaccine strains of B. anthracis (strains ST1 and Sterne) by introducing into them plasmids that code for fusion proteins intended to confer immunity both to anthrax and to brucellosis. The resulting live bivalent vaccine would then replace the live monovalent anthrax vaccines currently in use. DESCRIPTION Brucellosis is a debilitating although seldom lethal bacterial disease caused by certain strains of Brucella. Its principal reservoirs are cattle, sheep and swine. Human exposure is principally from direct contact with infected animals and animal products, including the consumption of unpasteurized milk and milk products from infected animals. Control of the disease in humans is mainly by avoiding consumption of unpasteurized milk and milk products and contact with infected animals, by sacrifice of infected animals and herds, and, in areas where brucellosis is endemic, veterinary

A Bivalent Anthrax–Plague Vaccine That Can Protect against Two Tier-1 Bioterror Pathogens, Bacillus anthracis and Yersinia pestis

Bioterrorism remains as one of the biggest challenges to global security and public health. Since the deadly anthrax attacks of 2001 in the United States, Bacillus anthracis and Yersinia pestis, the causative agents of anthrax and plague, respectively, gained notoriety and were listed by the CDC as Tier-1 biothreat agents. Currently, there is no Food and Drug Administration-approved vaccine aga...

In silico analysis of chimeric TF, Omp31 and BP26 fragments of Brucella melitensis for development of a multi subunit vaccine candidate

Objective(s):Brucellosis, especially caused by Brucella melitensis, remains one of the most common zoonotic diseases worldwide with more than 500,000 human cases reported annually. The commonly used live attenuated vaccine in ovine brucellosis prophylaxis is B. melitensis Rev1. But due to different problems caused by the administration of this vaccine, a protective subunit vaccine against B. me...

In Silico Prediction of B-Cell and T-Cell Epitopes of Protective Antigen of Bacillus anthracis in Development of Vaccines Against Anthrax

Protective antigen (PA), a subunit of anthrax toxin from Bacillus anthracis, is known as a dominant component in subunit vaccines in protection against anthrax. In order to avoid the side effects of live attenuated and killed organisms, the use of linear neutralizing epitopes of PA is recommended in order to design recombinant vaccines. The present study is aimed at determining the dominant epi...
